It’s Free and Loose, Like Yaniv’s Morals!

Naked man = best advertising ever. Objectifying men since 2015.

Did you know I write super sexy guys who, if not for fiction and romance being what it is, would be considered a sex offender by nightfall? Granted, I often pair them off with feisty, don’t need no man types who aren’t afraid to call them out on their bullshit. That’s the sort of reckless pairing you can expect from my books. In this case, The King and I: A Promiscus Guardian Love Story, features such a pairing.

Sounds like Yaniv needs to get a lawyer.

For this weekend only, you’ll get to read it for free.

It’s a story that has everything: hot kings, badass pink-haired heroines with a penchant for sinking her blades ten-inches deep in demons, a realm with dragons–DRAGONS–and some other weird creatures, the fast-paced story line that may or may not have been crafted with too much coffee and the dreams and hopes of an author who never gets out of the house the way she wants to. Not to mention, lots of inappropriate pan ins on an unrealistic eight-pack that glistens even when it shouldn’t.

This story really does have everything.

Trixie is a heroine I like writing–one who would much rather fight a horde of Low demons than cuddle up with a seriously sexy king who doesn’t know what the word no means. It’s funny and clever and full of adventure, and yes, those are terms I coined myself because my characters need to get their narcissism from somewhere.

Anyway. You have no reason not to grab a copy. Make sure you do and that you leave a review to tell me how great a storyteller I am (or how I’m full of hot air and should probably re-evaluate my life choices).

I made this one too. PRAISE ME!

Haven’t read my books? No problem. I have a couple titles for free! Check out my Amazon page for the titles Victor and Awakening!

What’s Next?

I’ve been asked a lot lately (even though I’m about to push out another book baby) what is next after the release of Angel Tears (Read about it here). What do I plan to write about now that my book baby is released to the world and I’m basically single again?

Several things. I’m playing with the concept of short serial stories about a teenaged vampire hunter. For those who know me, I don’t do short stories very well. I tend to make them full novels eventually and I can’t be trusted with a word count cap. Everyone who’s tried has failed. The first part, though, is somehow already written and will be made available in an upcoming anthology (watch this space for more details). But! I mostly NEED to work on Simon and Ebony’s story, which I started before Angel Tears but sidetracked away from. I have plans for the Next Generation Guardians, too. I’m also determined to write about Cathal, featured first in Resurrection (Book Four in the Promiscus Guardians series) and his assholery finding love.

Mostly, I have way too many ideas and not enough finger strength–or freedom seeing how I have four kids who may or may not rely on me for things (but mostly ask their father anyway).

So, first, I guess I should talk about what I’m already working on–Simon and Ebony. Remember them? They sort of had a story left unfinished and were forgotten over the course of the series because I had louder voices in my head. *cough* Bernie *cough* Because I really need this story to further the Next Guardians series, based on the kids of the main series, I can’t really leave it again.

So, now I write. I write like I’ve never written before. With brownies. Endless pots of coffee. An assortment of subjective, definitely unhelpful material I’ve pretended is because I found it on Netflix and wanted to watch it. I do what writers do, and I’m pretty sure that’s procrastinate and tell yourself that one day it’ll write itself.

Do I plan to write outside of the Guardian world again? Yes. I really loved writing a new shtick. I want to play around with different concepts not covered in the Guardian world, and also my brain hurts from trying to remember things I’ve written because I was never smart enough to make myself a cheat sheet about my characters, who are now just eyes and muscles in most cases. I also plan to explore more shorter story bits for anthologies.

Haven’t read my books? No problem. My first book, the one that is definitely a good showcase of who I am as a writer, is FREE to grab. Make sure to get your copy on your way out. It’s worth it, promise. Or it’s not, but then you didn’t spend anything and we can both act like we don’t know each other.

My Next Adventure!

Hello my lovelies!

Bet you’ve been wondering where the hell I’ve been since Victor’s release? Well, your amazing author friend has been writing. I’m currently 34K words into the next book in the Promiscus Guardians Series, and I’m really excited to finally start talking about it.

First, the cover:

It’s done! But you won’t get to see it until I get to 50K words! That’s the deal: I write, you wait.

laughing

Second, the writing:

It’s been flowing out of me, but like with everything else, it gets knocked to the side when those shrill screams of children fighting echoes loudly through my living room. It’s a moment I dread every time I start to write.

My other obstacle is just writing. I have a tendency to want to reread everything I just wrote, which is fine…until I’m rereading the entire 100 plus pages that I wrote and forgetting that I still have to write the rest of the damn book before I get edit-heavy on it.

So then I try to write again, and everything else in my life goes crazy, because apparently I’m the only person that can do things and keep the house livable…and I end up a little bit crazy by the end of the day as a result.

tapeface

Finally, the end?

It’s still getting there, but with my ability to write fast, I doubt it will be terribly long before you see the cover reveal. I’ll be hosting a few giveaways around that time, so stay tuned. If I haven’t lost my mind entirely, I might even give away some really, really cool stuff. Someone mentioned Bernie shirts; the ones featured in the book. I may get something interesting together like that.

I will leave you here with an excerpt from the story, because I’m awesome like that. Check out my other books here, and make sure to follow me on my author page!

“Victor is, and always has been, a man that drives a person to their best possible self. While he may seem unrelenting, sometimes unforgiving when it comes to training, he is the best possible tutor. And though we have had our disagreements, Victor remained faithfully there for me over the years,” Lucas finally said, face becoming softer. It was gorgeous: the small tilt in his lips as he said this.

“I have no idea how anyone could ever disagree with you,” I retorted, monotone. “Did he ever lose his angel temper with you? More importantly, was he a spanker?”

Lucas had the decency to look disgusted, and Pavel almost lost his footing when he very nearly collapsed into laughter.

“Are you a child?” Lucas sneered.

“No,” I replied, snickering. “I just wondered what method of parenting he used on you. Just answer the question, Lucas. It was you who brought it all up.”

Lucas sighed shortly. “Victor’s method of punishment was far worse, in my opinion, to any method used currently.”

I was tremendously titillated now. Both Pavel and I joined arms and stared at him with happy, non-blinking expressions. If we had tails, they would have frozen, then wagged, then froze again. Lucas looked completely put out, but by the laxness of his jaw, I knew he’d give me what I wanted.

“If I misbehaved, I was forced to attend gatherings with numerous amounts of women, most of which never ceased pestering me,” he finally replied begrudgingly.

I bit my lower lip, eyes and nose burning as I attempted to keep from laughing. It was too much. Both Blondie and I held each other for long minutes as we laughed, garnering the other three’s attention with our hysterics.

“Women were your punishment? He’s definitely a clever bastard. Victor just earned my seal of approval with that move,” I said, admiration distinctly in my expression.

“Trust me, moya solnishka, never ever piss off the boss,” he said, referring to Victor. His eyes narrowed violently, yet his smile was unfortunately just as alluring. “His punishments are especially designed to break anyone that may feel the need to go against him.”

Lucas scoffed lightly. “Pavel is thoroughly experienced with Victor’s discipline measures,” he stated, smile outdoing the wickedness of Pavel’s and making the pair of us shudder. “His punishment of last required him to investigate a rather flashy establishment—”

Pavel shook his head, clamping his hands over my ears. I giggled as the three others watched us, no longer walking to favor listening on the very interesting conversation between me and the boys. There was a cocky smile on Sadin’s face, but I ignored it as I was held hostage against my dirty Russian’s firm body.

Lucas pulled me from Pavel, pressing his lips to my ear and whispering, “He was asked to go undercover at a homosexual club called Banging Bottoms.

“You said it!” Blondie growled, deflating instantly with his shoulders dropping and eyes falling to the floor.

I laughed heartily. “I bet you fit right in.”

Blondie groaned, glaring over me towards Lucas. “You’re a right bastard.”

“I merely offered Izzy invaluable anecdotes to express your own claims of Victor,” Lucas returned, holding me against him.

“What did you wear?” I asked Blondie, breaking between the boys with my raspy voice, barely able to keep my amusement inside.

Three Children and a Release

It’s been a while since I published a personal post. With the ongoing hoopla of publishing both my second and third book this last month, I’ve been busy. However, I come bearing interesting…also mildly hilarious anecdotes of incredible–not–events that took place while writing/editing/formatting/publishing/feeding my coffee addiction with three children to contend with the entire process.

It’s no small mystery that children make things phenomenally more difficult; sometimes even prolonging processes that would take someone hours to instead take days to finish in light of demon children stalking the corners, blocking hallways, entering very interesting sentences that may or may not have made it into my final manuscript, and destroying the home you had rushed to clean so you could focus all your sole efforts on writing.

My eldest, a daughter I refer to as Diva, was the forefront enemy the last month. Her indisputable power over the two younger ones, Mr. Sensitive and Mr. Testosterone, is one of the many, many, many reasons my publishing process was not all sunshine, unicorns, and billowing glitter.

Yesterday, a day that will live on in my memory, was one such case where three against one is never a fair fight. It was the day before release, a day that would have any normal author jumping enthusiastically in their overused armchair/swivel chair/old school couch. I had managed another few edits–a manuscript is never perfect–and I was taking a small break from the process.

Diva had, in the time I had been away mentally, stolen an entire bag’s worth of candies and hidden them in her room. Therefore, yes, my children were very much drunk on candy. And the rest of the day served as a mad battle with candy-drugged two-four-six-year-olds, a potty that saw a little too much toddler action, and a floor that was mildly glistening with liquids that could be possibly categorized as a ‘bio-hazard.’

Today, I have my husband home for Victor’s release, and I couldn’t be more thankful. They are now his problem. I love my husband; I love my sanity more. So happy release day to me! Make sure to check out Victor and grab your copy of Awakening while it’s still free!

Until next time! Write on.

Come A Little Closer

Hey all! Guess who finished the final edit of Victor? Yeah-ya! I did. I did! And it’s going to be so great to see how well Victor fairs against my main love interest, Lucas. Probably will get a few more fans with this one guys.

As a way to honor the upcoming Victor release, I will be doing another freebie of Awakening Feb. 12-13th, and as I’m so awesome…your favorite author, right? I have a little fun excerpt for my fans today of what you’ll see in my new book.

Check it out:

“Indeed,” Victor said, lips twitching as he attempted not to smile at my clear irritation. “I have come to find that I can neither be calm where you are concerned nor entirely objective. You have made me into a man that is riddled with flaws.”

I feigned insult. “I didn’t do anything to you. Besides, you could do with a little bit of flaw. You’re too damn perfect…and it’s annoying.”

Victor chuckled deeply, leaning in and brushing his lips against mine. “Is that so?”

“Yes,” I said, suddenly much more breathless. “You have way too much going for you.”

“It is you that is so desirable that I have mind to keep you concealed from any man that might gaze upon your beauty,” Victor said evenly, flaring my cheeks with his bold, nonchalant words.

How did he manage to say half this crap with a straight face?!

There you have it! So don’t forget to get your copy, if you haven’t already, of Awakening during the freebie and of Victor while you can!

Until next time!

Writer’s Remorse (WR)

First edit done, and I’ve sent off a few copies for ARC (advanced readers copies) and hopefully it will all end well and not in poor Brianna’s heartbreak. If I come here crying, you must all console me…I’ll need it!

I was rereading through my book–obviously–and knowing how well-received Awakening has been, I’ve been a bit worried with how far I strayed with Lilly. I have a little bit of what I like to call WR…or, Writer’s Remorse. It happens once and a while when I write a new character…and was in desperate love with my last.

You write a character or characters that you just can’t seem to let go? That’s WR. Granted, I’ll be able to get back to Izzy and Lucas soon, but I felt like I’ve been betraying them this whole time. I sort of was like this all day…

tumblr_inline_n2n3pbLx3s1qdjtxa

I’m sorry I betrayed you…I did…I betrayed my first real published characters…I’m a monster.

But then I reread the love scene in my upcoming Victor book…

tumblr_mb5f0q26ms1qhl2rk

AND! Instant forgiveness. Sorry Lucas and Izzy…but Victor is incredibly hot…and my writer’s remorse has just been cured.

Cover Reveal!

metamorphosisfinalcover

As I get closer to finishing the first draft of Metamorphosis, I have finished the book cover to begin promoting the second in the Promiscus Guardians Series!

Here’s a little bit of insider info; I do all the covers, formatting, editing, and coffee-making in this entire process. I have peers proofread, but for the most part, most of this process is carried out by yours truly.

And as a bit of a homage to my cover reveal, here’s an unedited excerpt of Metamorphosis!

“Bernard, you saved me,” Pavel said while walking the short distance to the cowboy’s side.

“Anything for you, baby,” Bernie answered, throwing an arm around the Russian and smiling in a way that was probably illegal in most countries.

“I think their bromance has transformed into full on gaymance,” I said to Lucas, who was unable to keep from smirking.

Yay me!

“Did you hear what she called us?” Bernie gasped, feigning shock while pressing a hand girlishly against his mouth.

Pavel turned towards Bernie with a bemused glance. “What does ‘gaymance’ even mean?”

“More importantly, which one of you is on top?” came another voice, immediately causing an internal leap of joy inside me. Carl moseyed over towards the group, tossing the two men a judgmental look, before shaking his head and sighing.

“Yeah, that is, indeed, a plaguing question,” I added, tapping my chin as if in deep contemplation. “They are both too beautifully masculine to know one way or another. Do you think they take turns?”

“Turns? In what?” Pavel asked, still not following our line of conversation.

Unfortunately for Blondie and his primary language, sometimes these disconnects happened. And extremely fortunate for me—the closet sadist—they were absolutely gloriously timed and perfectly entertaining. Every. Single. Fucking. Time!

“I hope not,” Carl said with another shake of his head, ignoring the confused Russian at his side. “Somehow, it seems insulting if my brother used the same face and body as mine to end up a bottom. Doesn’t seem right.”

Bernie’s face dropped with the insult. “As if a cowboy like myself would ever be on the bottom,” he replied, eyes glinting with frustration.

So being gay didn’t faze him but being a bottom did?

“Top, bottom…oh,” Pavel said, comprehension finally hitting him.

Seeing my opportunity rapidly approaching, my hand couldn’t grab my phone fast enough as Pavel’s face morphed from one emotion to the next.

Oh dear lord, it was glorious!

Before I could snap a picture, however, he was grabbing my phone and pocketing it with a speed that only Lucas could match.

Saw it here first folks! Happy waiting!

Coming to Print–at least I hope it does!

Sooooo delicious. Man-muscles. Oh! Sorry, venture down to read my little blurb.

bookcoverfinal4

So you’re asking yourself, why an ebook and not a print, Brianna? Well of course there will be a print, silly. So why not yet, you ask? It’s a little thing I’d like to call…formatting. And it’s a bitch. Actually, it’s amazing–I’m the bitch. And I’m lazy. Super lazy. So lazy, in fact, that the word doesn’t accurately describe the level of lazy I am.

After editing, then editing again, then re-editing, and then crying out in horror at the poor use of my one true love, comma, editing again. Effectively editing for the umpteenth time, I was finally ready to work on the print.

Well, I underestimated the world of print. I thought, “I’ve totally got this. Just click, click, then I’m done, right?” No-oh-ho-oh-oh! You’d think that, wouldn’t you? Naive little me did. I didn’t realize that it needed to be re-spaced, re-fonted, re-everything before I could make it print ready.

After hours of glaring at my computer and redoing the cover just so, I finally managed to get it looking, feeling, and appearing right. And then, I noticed a few errors in my writing–which prompted me to re-edit for the bagillionth time (and cry myself to sleep while holding a gluten-free, sugar-free cookie).

So at the end of this wonderful journey, my hair’s a mess, my teeth unbrushed, my kids unfed, my husband…well, something, and I’m just a tiny step closer to the final print of my book. With luck, and a little bribing, I’m sure it’ll be ready by the weekend.

Nothing fancy. Just my first novel. In print. In the flesh–or rather, in the binding. And I’ll look back and laugh at the crazy experience I had, using it to fuel the next book in the series and being a little smarter for it.

Watch my blog for the post when it goes live!
